I was informed by a person in the newsgroup alt.religion.wicca.moderated that something in my website's code was causing worldwide havoc! Oh well, maybe it wasn't that bad. :-) But it was bad enough to make my website unreachable to quite a few interested people.

Actually, what it turned out to be was a piece of Javascript code meant for a browser at least three generations old. You see, this piece of code was trying to load a MIDI file (background music), but the ancient browsers that inhabited the Earth back during the time when this code was written didn't have built-in support for MIDI. So, it was trying to get the browser to load a little Web program. This apparently works OK in Netscape - but a great deal of us (and almost all of the people I know locally) don't use Netscape - they use Internet Explorer by Micro$oft (or Microslop, whatever you prefer). In IE, it ends up being full of errors, and you never get to read the page.

This ancient piece of coding technology seems to be the default for adding sounds to web pages in Dreamweaver 3, the prog I'm using. I've removed the offending code, and so my site should be fine again. Perhaps in the future, I'll either change Dreamweaver's settings and try again, or I'll add a line of code to do it manually.
